In 1980, Pan Africanist Efua Sutherland wrote a paper titled, “Proposal for a Historical Drama Festival in Cape Coast,” which was the catalyst to the manifestation of the Pan African Historical and Theatre Festival (PANAFEST) in 1991. This biennial tour was founded on the premise that theatre can be used to highlight the tragedies of the slave trade, while simultaneously unifying Black and African peoples.
Today, the most celebrated Pan-African festival has evolved into a unique facet of artistic creativity, spanning debates, music, dance, performances, ceremonies, conferences, workshops and more.
During this festival, our professional guides will navigate you from northern to southern Ghana, following the slave routes taken by our ancestors before they were forced to Cape Coast and Elmina Castles, and then stolen forever from the motherland. Panafest is a celebration meant to unite African and Black people traveling to Ghana, both physically and spiritually, cementing a bond shared through the tragic experiences of the slave trade and its’ damaging effects.
We’ll let you know when specials, promotional offers, and discounts are available for tours, flights, and activities in Ghana.
